Watch the teaser for Neighbours – A New Chapter
Neighbours fans are finally set to get answers about the missing two years as the show airs a “flashback week” this week.
After bowing out with a star-studded finale last summer the newly rebooted Neighbours returned on the streamer Amazon Freevee on Monday September 18.
However, the revamped show fast forwarded two years from the finale, leaving long term fans scratching their heads about what had happened in the interim.
In an attempt to fill in the blanks, Lucinda Cowden, who plays Melanie Pearson, has returned to the cast for a hugely dramatic week filled with explosive revelations, and she is thrilled that fans will finally find out what happened during those missing years.
“I think it absolutely needed to happen. Because there’s so many unanswered questions and how did we get to this place?” she told Express.co.uk and other press in advance of the episodes.

“I think that’s the whole joy of going the two years ahead is that then you’ve got all of these two years to mine as drama for things that have happened and the little drops of information that that we’ve had so far in the first six weeks.
“Then all of a sudden, you get all of this information that people have just not known.
“So, I think it’s a fantastic device, to be able to create drama and bring everybody along with us.”
When fans last saw Melanie she had just tied the knot with Toadie Rebecchi (Ryan Maloney).
However, when the show returned, he was married to Terese Willis (Rebekah Elmaloglou), who had previously rekindled her romance with Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis), so there are definitely a lot of things to explain.

This means that Melanie spends most of the week filling in the gaps to a captive audience of characters in scenes that have so many twists and turns, your head will spin.
When it is pointed out that it is very reminiscent of the revelations in an Agatha Christie mystery, she laughs.
“They were really long days. I had so many words to remember I cannot tell you. My brain was exploding.
“But it was it’s great that you see it like it was an Agatha Christie because that was actually how it read. It was a great read. It was like what? What? What? So really our job was to bring that off the page because it was an incredibly well written.”
Neighbours streams on Amazon Freevee from Monday to Thursday weekly. The flashback week is running now.
