Strictly: Angela and Carlos react to judges’ feedback
Strictly Come Dancing professional Carlos Gu has hit back at remarks made by judge Craig Revel Horwood during last week’s show.
Appearing on Wednesday’s spin-off show It Takes Two, host Janette Manrara read out a tweet from a fan of the couple who claims the judges had been “harsh” with Carlos and presented partner, Angela Scanlon.
“I know that Craig gave you a little bit of a mention about how he thought you’d run out of ideas at the end of the routine, how do you want to respond to that?” Janette probed.
“Rude,” Carlos replied before swiftly adding: “No, I love you Craig!”
However, he went on: “You know, it’s just personal.

“Coming to the choreography level, it’s personal, I was personally thinking that’s the best way for us, he is thinking the best way is that… it’s just personal.”
“But also it felt really personal,” Angela added, joking: “And I was like, ‘Don’t mess with him, don’t you dare mess with him, you can say whatever you want about my heels but don’t you mess with him.’
“And it was like… we were on a date, it was supposed to feel dreamy and casual, not like a big moment at the end.”
“Yeah, so it was part of the story,” Janette offered.

Following their routine on Saturday night, Craig remarked: “Well, the clue to this dance is obviously in the name – American Smooth, and smooth it wasn’t unfortunately.
“It just lacked grace, that’s something you really need to [have].
“And I have to say, I felt like you’d run out of ideas at the end, just that running about… that didn’t impress me at all to finish on.
“I don’t think it’s your best, I really don’t, sad to say.”
The pair went on to receive some other criticism from the judges but Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke and Motsi Mabuse also picked up on some positive elements.
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.45pm on BBC One.
