Strictly viewers mistake Dianne for Corrie star after hair transformation

Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left stunned after Dianne Buswell showed off her major hair transformation on the show.

The glitzy BBC One programme returned to TV screens on Saturday (December 2). But as soon as Dianne and partner Bobby Brazier stepped onto the stage – fans had a lot to say.

The dancing duo put on a jaw-dropping performance to (I've Had) The Time of My Life from the smash hit musical movie, Dirty Dancing. But it was Dianne's hair transformation that got fans talking.

Instead of her usual fiery red locks she switched things up for a short brown bob. And fans were left stunned at how different she looked.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, one person pointed out how she resembled former Corrie star Michelle Keegan. They said: “OMG Brunette Dianne looks like Michelle Keegan."

Someone else added: “Dianne as a brunette looks like a completely different person." A third quipped: "Dianne looks good with her hair like that."

Echoing their thoughts, another penned: "No lie, Dianne looks fantastic with brown hair." A fifth wrote: "Dianne's hair looks gorgeous tonight!"

It comes after Strictly star Nigel Harman was forced to quit the show after an injury.An official BBC spokesperson confirmed the news of Nigel and Katya's departure, stating: "Unfortunately Nigel has sustained an injury which means he is unable to perform in tonight's show and has had to withdraw from Strictly."

The official Strictly Come Dancing Instagram page also shared the news with a statement alongside a photo of the pair. The statement read: "Unfortunately, Nigel Harman and Katya Jones have had to withdraw from the competition. We wish Nigel a speedy recovery and they both will be very much missed by our entire Strictly family."

Many Strictly professionals expressed their sadness at the news. Gorka Marquez, who was eliminated second this year after being partnered with presenter Nikita Kanda, reacted by sharing crying emojis. Nadiya Bychkova, who has been in the show group performances and backing dancing, shared sad-faced emojis and a praying hands emoji.

Over on X, formerly known as Twitter, Channel 4 newsreader Krishnan Guru-Murthy was among those sharing shock at the news. The star, who was a 2023 contestant and was eliminated in week eight, wrote: "Terrible news. Poor Nigel and Katya – and in musicals week as well which he was so excited about. So sad for a lovely man and amazing dancer."
