Brian Cox ‘swears’ on Loose Women
Loose Women host Ruth Langsford had to apologise to viewers over actor Brian Cox’s “fruity” language on the ITV talk show.
He explained: “If you make the opening weekend, then you have a career. Now Andy and Michael both suffered as this film did not work and I thought there was no way I wanted to have that responsibility.
“So that is when I went to America, and I was 50, and decided I wanted to be a character actor, that I would be a supporting actor.
“And actually there is nothing wrong with that. I mean I had a bit row with Nigel Hawthorne who said he couldn’t do it any more because he’s played [Sir Humphrey Appleby] in Yes, Minister.”
Continuing, Brian let out an expletive and said: “Well that’s b****ks, of course, we can play small parts. Anyway, there are no small parts, only small actors.”

Loose Women viewers headed to Twitter to comment on Brian’s colourful language on the daytime programme.
Richard remarked: “Brian Cox can say what he likes. If anyone is offended by hearing “b****ks” at lunchtime, put some stones in your shoes and walk into the nearest lake. #loosewomen.”
A second wrote: “Should have apologised for Janet Street-Porter saying cleaning was lowest of low, not Brian Cox saying b****ks.”
Janet Street-Porter made the remark when she spoke to Brian about the start of his career when he had to sweep floors in a theatre in Dundee, Scotland.
Janet said to the actor: “I read in your autobiography about growing up in Dundee, how there were so many cinemas and only one theatre. And didn’t you get a job like sweeping up? The lowest of the low?”
Brian explained he started out having to take the money the theatre had made to the bank and to mop the stage at 6pm.
Bry noted: “Nice of @The_Real_JSP on @loosewomen insinuating that theatre cleaners and sweepers are “ lowest of the low”. She basically went against what Brian Cox was explaining. Everyone is important!”
Loose Women airs on weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
