Davina McCall is ‘absolutely obsessed’ with this £12 secret to a year-round glow

Come rain or shine, you can usually count on celebrities to have a year-round glow, and whilst some turn to professional spray tans or countless holidays abroad, it seems Davina McCall prefers a much more relatable beauty secret.

Rather than splashing out on expensive treatments or risking sun exposure, the presenter relies on the Garnier Summer Body Tan Lotion, £12 here, to top up her bronzed glow.

Sharing her secrets in an Instagram video, Davina wrote: “My favourite products for protecting my skin in the sun and maximising my tan without it… AND what I pack when I travel so I’m not carrying loads of giant bottles everywhere!”

In the video, Davina says the number one thing is to protect your skin, adding: “I love getting the sun to my skin, but I think I love getting sun to my skin because I love being tanned, so there are hacks that let you still get a bit of sun but more of a tan.”

She then shares her one of favourite go-to beauty products, the Garnier Summer Body Tan Lotion, £12 here, saying: “This is one of my hero products and I’m absolutely obsessed with it, when I’m on holiday and if I’m going out in the evening, I use this as a moisturiser on my legs and it just literally upscales the tan in the loveliest way.”

The moisturiser comes in bothlightanddarkshades to suit every skin tone, and intensely moisturises your skin, leaving it soft and supple whilst also building a gradual, natural-looking tan in harmony with your skin’s natural colour.

Unlike other self-tanners which give you an instant colour pay off, the Garner Summer Body Tan Lotion builds a subtle tan with every application, so you can apply it daily to increase your glow, or one a week to maintain a light bronzed shade.

With the added benefit of keeping your skin hydrated, it’s the perfect travel essential to take on holiday with you, as it can help nourish your skin and build your tan without prolonged sun exposure, protecting you from UVA and UVB rays.

Just like normal fake tan though, don’t forget to wash your hands after applying, and let it fully soak into your skin before getting dressed to prevent colour transfer.

Making sure your face is the same shade as your body is key to keeping your tan look natural, although some self tan products can be heavy or clogging on your face's delicate skin. However, Davina revealed she uses the Garnier Ambre Solaire Natural Bronzer Self-Tan Face Drops, £10.05 here (was £15), mixed with her moisturiser to help create a healthy, natural glow on her face too.

If you prefer to have a little more control over your overall tan’s hue, you can also add tanning drops like Rose & Caramel Unity Bronzed Tanning Drops, £24.99 here, to your favourite moisturiser for an all over glow that helps your prolong your tan long after the summer has ended.

To use tanning drops, simply added them to your usual moisturiser to create a natural glow – the more drops you add, the darker your tan, so you can use them to accentuate your existing tan, or to create a bronzed finish without needing to sit in the sun.

However you get your tan, don’t forget to wear SPF – even when the sun isn’t shining!
