Britain’s scruffiest house that desperate neighbour wanted squatters to take over because ‘at least they’d look after it’ is transformed into plush £950-a-month rental
- Peter Chidgey, from Tiverton, Devon, in 2021 hated abandoned house next door
- But since it was bought last year it has been done up and is now a £950pm rental
Britain’s scruffiest house that desperate neighbour wanted squatters to take over as ‘at least they’d look after it’ has now been transformed into a plush £950-a-month rental property.
In 2021 Peter Chidgey, then 69, said he had been trying to get the empty overgrown property at Anstey Crescent, Tiverton, Devon tidied up for years.
He had lived there for 34 years and said problems with the neighbouring, privately owned home began around ten years prior.
Mr Chidgey said at the time that the property had been empty since his neighbour moved out around eight years prior, leaving the garden gradually spread into an overgrown jungle.
The former service engineer said at the time: ‘I’d sooner have squatters in there than this because at least they’d show some effort to look after it. It’s a bloody great mess.’
