  Netanyahu: Counter-offensive is \u2018just the beginning\u2019<\/h2>\n

  In televised remarks a few hours ago, Israel\u2019s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said Israel\u2019s actions in Gaza are \u201cjust the beginning\u201d.<\/p>\n

  I would like to emphasise, this is just the beginning.<\/p>\n

  • At least 1300 Israelis have been killed in the conflict so far, the Israeli Defence Force said, with at least 3200 people injured.<\/li>\n
  • And at least 1799 have been killed in Gaza, Palestinian health authorities reported, with as many as 7388 people injured. <\/li>\n
  • Late yesterday (Australia time) Israel directed more than 1.1 million people living in northern Gaza to immediately evacuate ahead of an expected ground invasion of the strip. The UN, reporting that Israel had given only 24 hours to complete the evacuation, labelled the order \u201cimpossible\u201d.<\/li>\n
  • Israel says it has been conducting \u201clocalised raids\u201d in sections of the Gaza Strip. Involving infantry and armed forces, the ground raids \u201cthwarted terrorist cells and infrastructure located in the area\u201d, the IDF said.<\/li>\n
  • 70 people fleeing Gaza City, mostly women and children, have been killed by Israeli airstrikes so far, Hamas officials reported.<\/li>\n
  • Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned his country\u2019s counter-offensive is \u201cjust the beginning\u201d, and that Israel \u201cwill end this war stronger than ever\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
