Men and women who earn big salaries are the most likely to cheat on their partner, a poll found.<\/p>\n
More than a third of men \u2013 36% \u2013 who earn over \u00a350,000 a year said they have had an affair. And a third of women \u2013 33% \u2013 who earn between \u00a340,000 and \u00a350,000 also said they have cheated, with another 13% on over \u00a350,000 also owning up to a fling.<\/p>\n
Stephen Jenkins, 47, a married car dealer from Kent, said earning a big salary had been the secret of his success with women but had also cost him his marriage.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cMy job has been up and down over the years but I\u2019ve often earned over \u00a350k a year and I\u2019ve found in the past the more money I\u2019ve had in my pocket the more attractive I\u2019ve been to women. I know that\u2019s a cliche but it\u2019s true. Having money makes you confident and that makes you more attractive and interesting to others, I think.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat said, I\u2019ve been married and divorced so there is a big downside. I\u2019ve settled down now but there is no doubt having plenty of cash opens doors to cheat on your partner.\u201d<\/p>\n
Illicit Encounters, the dating site for married couples, analysed data from its 1.6million UK members to come up with the findings. Men who earn between \u00a340,000 to \u00a350,000 are the second most likely to have a fling with 32 per cent saying they have played away. <\/p>\n
And men earning from \u00a330,000 to \u00a340,000 are the third most likely to cheat with 18 per cent in the salary group owning up. Just nine per cent of men earning between \u00a320,000 and \u00a330,000 have cheated on a partner making them the fourth most likely to have an affair.<\/p>\n

And men earning less than \u00a320,000 a year are the least likely to cheat with just five per cent having had an affair making them the least likely to cheat in fifth place according to salary.<\/p>\n
Researchers also found almost a third of women – 28 per cent – on a salary of between \u00a330,000 to \u00a340,000 said they have cheated on a partner making them the the second most likely group of women to cheat.<\/p>\n
But unlike men women on the lowest salaries are not the least likely to cheat with sixteen per cent of women on less than \u00a320,000 owning up to an affair making them the third most likely salary group among women to cheat. Just ten per cent of women on a salary of between \u00a320,000 and \u00a330,000 have cheated making them the least likely to have an affair.<\/p>\n
