A facial plastic surgeon has revealed the surprising hack that will make your Botox\u00a0injections last longer.<\/p>\n
Dr.\u00a0Sarmela Sunder, who is based in Beverly Hills, California,\u00a0has more than 344,000 followers on TikTok, where she posts videos about skincare, injectables, and plastic surgery.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The expert recently explained how you can ‘alter the duration of your Botox treatment.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘If you love the effects of Botox and you want it to last longer, consider taking a zinc supplement,’ she advised.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dr. Sarmela Sunder, who is based in Beverly Hills, California, has more than 344,000 followers on TikTok , where she posts videos about skincare, injectables, and plastic surgery\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a recent TikTok video, she shared how you can ‘alter the duration of your Botox treatment,’ including how to make it last longer<\/p>\n
‘There’s a study that shows taking a zinc supplement can prolong the duration of the Botox effects.’<\/p>\n
Botox, a brand name for\u00a0botulinum toxin type A, is an injectable that blocks the nerve cells and prevents targeted muscles from contracting, temporarily reducing or eliminating wrinkles.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It can also be used to treat certain medical conditions, including neck spasms, overactive bladder, and chronic migraines.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Botox lasts for three to six months, depending on the patient, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, studies have shown that zinc may extend the effects of Botox injections\u00a0by nearly 30 per cent, meaning you get more bang for your buck.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘Take about 15 mg a day and see if that helps,’ Dr. Sunder said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But if you are not a fan of your new look, the plastic surgeon noted that there are also ways to make your body metabolize\u00a0Botox more quickly.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘If you want your Botox to go away faster, try exercising more,’ she explained. ‘There is evidence that a higher metabolic rate does make your Botox wear off faster.’<\/p>\n

Dr. Sunder\u00a0added that using a vibration tool in the area, such as a facial massager or the back of an electric toothbrush, can also lead to the toxin breaking down faster<\/p>\n
Dr. Sunder said increasing blood flow to the area with increased heat has also been shown to decrease the effects of Botox in some cases.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘Getting in a sauna or a steam room pretty frequently can make Botox go away faster,’ she said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n She added that using a vibration tool in the area, such as a facial massager or the back of an electric toothbrush, can also lead to the toxin breaking down faster.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Dr. Sunder shared in the comments that she gets questions about how long Botox lasts every day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n ‘Everyone wants to know how to make it last longer or keep it from wearing off sooner,’ she explained.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
