before they later complained of being cut off by the Royals.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s\u00a0<span>survey also shows that respondents have a dim view of the Sussexes&#8217; claim to throne, with the vast majority believing they should be booted out of the line of succession completely.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>As the second child of King Charles III, Prince Harry is fifth in line to the throne after his brother, Prince William, nephews Princes George and Louis, and niece\u00a0Princess Charlotte.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meghan meanwhile is not in line for the throne &#8211; much like the Princess of Wales &#8211; but her two children with Harry,\u00a0Prince Archie\u00a0and Princess\u00a0Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor, are sixth and seventh.<\/p>\n<p>A year on from the Queen&#8217;s death &#8211; the Prince&#8217;s older brother and his wife have come out as the most popular royals.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While the &#8216;spare&#8217; has fallen out of favour with the public, with growing support to remove Prince Harry from the line of succession, more people would like to see the heir take the reins from his father sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n<p>Those who believe Charles should have become King when the Queen died, compared to those who would have preferred William, is approaching parity, 43 per cent and 41 per cent respectively, as his eldest son&#8217;s popularity increases and his holds steady.<\/p>\n<p>Charles should remain King until he dies, according to 41 per cent of respondents &#8211; whereas the number of people who believe William should become king before he dies or even immediately has risen to 45 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>The poll shows that Britons largely believe William has done well in a year where he lost his grandmother, faced more brutal attacks from his brother Harry. <\/p>\n<p>In a result which is sure to sting for the Duke of Sussex, almost twice as many respondents (50 per cent) believe that it is William rather than Harry (27 per cent) who best represents the values of their mother, Diana.<\/p>\n<p>Prince William and Princess Kate top the list of those the public believe should receive public money via the Sovereign Grant, just ahead of Charles and Camilla.<\/p>\n<p>These two couples and\u00a0Princess Anne remain the only members of the Royal Family\u00a0for whom a majority of people think they should receive taxpayer money.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Prince Andrew is now the only royal family member who fewer than 11 per cent think should be paid from the public&#8217;s pot &#8211; before they later complained of being cut off by the Royals\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Since moving to the US in 2020, Harry and Meghan have managed to rake in an estimated \u00a3100million from lucrative media deals.<\/p>\n<p>Harry claimed Charles had &#8216;cut him off financially&#8217; following the couple&#8217;s departure &#8211; dubbed &#8216;Megxit&#8217; &#8211; claims which were later refuted by the Royal Family.<\/p>\n<p>A series of spats ensued, including potshots aimed at his father and brother in Harry&#8217;s memoir, and the relationship between the Sussexes and the Windsors now appears to many to have been irretrievably damaged.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Opinion was divided on whether Harry will ever return to Britain, with more than four in ten (43 per cent) saying they believe he will never come back to live in the country full time.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, more than a third (36 per cent) are of the opinion that he will come back at some point in the future.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/08\/01\/68262705-12492755-Harry_and_Meghan_have_managed_to_make_an_estimated_100million_si-a-21_1694133460289.jpg\" height=\"930\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Harry and Meghan have managed to make an estimated \u00a3100million since moving to the US<\/p>\n<p>The findings were revealed in a comprehensive new poll on the state of the monarchy carried out for MailOnline by Deltapoll.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It asked more than 2,000 people how they view the\u00a0Royal Family, its members and the work the institution does in the UK and abroad.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s exclusive survey also reveals:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>More than half of respondents (53%) think that the institution of the monarchy is good for Britain;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>\u00a0More than six in ten (62%) believe Britain should remain a monarchy. Fewer than a quarter (23%) think Britain should become a republic;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Just over half (53%) think that Britain will still be a monarchy in fifty years, with more than a quarter (25%) thinking the opposite.<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>\u00a0A majority (58%) have not changed their mind about Charles since he became king. Under a quarter (23%) think better of him, with just over one in nine (12%) thinking the opposite;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>It is a similar for Camilla. Half (50%) have not changed their mind about her and under a quarter (24%) think better of her. At one in six (17%), however, the proportion who say their opinion of her has got worse is slightly higher than for her husband. Half (50%) also think that Diana would have been a better queen. 12% think the opposite and 19% think there would have been no real difference;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Four in ten (40%) think that Charles should not allow either Harry or Meghan to play an active role in royal lifeever again. A quarter (25%) say Charles should be open to the idea, with a further fifth (20%) thinking Charles should be open to the idea of Harry without Meghan. A strong majority (69%) think Charles should not allow Andrew to have an active role again;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>More than four in ten (43%) thinks Harry will never come back to live in Britain full time, but more than a third (36%) think he will come back at some point in the future;<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Prince Andrew is viewed very poorly, even compared to Harry and Meghan. Four in ten (40%) think that the good things are in the majority when it comes to Harry with only one in seven thinking there are no good things about him.
