DEAR DEIDRE: I THINK I broke my penis during passionate sex with my partner.

Now, whenever I get an erection it leans to the right in a banana shape, and it doesn’t seem as hard as it used to be.

I’m 45 and my partner is 39. We were having a very energetic session a few months ago, with her on top – her favourite position – when it felt like something popped.

Afterwards, it looked like there was an indent at the base of my penis.

I went straight to the doctor but the nurse said it seemed OK and I shouldn’t worry.

But since then, even though I can still get hard, I’ve noticed that my penis is curving more and more to the right, and the indent looks deeper.

Every problem gets a personal reply from one of our trained counsellors.

My partner says it doesn’t feel the same.

You can only see the issue when I’m erect, which makes showing anyone extremely awkward.

I’m really worried that I’ve done myself some serious, permanent damage.

DEIDRE SAYS: Although the penis doesn’t contain a bone, so you can’t “break” it, vigorous sex can cause an injury.

Please make another appointment with your GP.It sounds like you may be developing a condition called Peyronie’s disease, an inflammatory disease that can start from an injury.

This is a very common problem but is rarely spoken about.

There are treatments and you should still be able to get an erection and have penetrative sex.

Find support from the British Dupuytren’s Society (dupuytrens-society.org.uk).

My support pack on solving erection problems may also be helpful.

Most read in Dear Deidre
