It has not yet been revealed which of the 400 Wilko stores have been bought, and it is understood that store closures could be announced as soon as today.<\/p>\n
It comes as hundreds of staff at the company's Worksop support centre were made redundant yesterday.<\/p>\n
Further redundancies at the company's Worksop and Newport warehouses are due to start this week.<\/p>\n

It's not just shops either, food and pub chains have also been hit, resulting in brands like\u00a0Wetherspoons\u00a0and\u00a0Frankie & Benny's closing.<\/p>\n
Following the\u00a0pandemic\u00a0businesses were struggling to bounce back anyway, only to then be hit by soaring\u00a0energy\u00a0bills.<\/p>\n
On Saturday August 5, Clarks shoes shut the doors on its store in Fareham for food. <\/p>\n
Before that Clarks closed a store in\u00a0Dundee\u00a0on July 25.<\/p>\n
Although, some chains have managed to defy high street troubles and are actually\u00a0set to open new shops.<\/p>\n
These include discount chains like\u00a0Poundland which is set to open 15\u00a0shops in the coming weeks and\u00a0Greggs which is aiming to open 150 new sites this year.<\/p>\n
