There\u2019s weddings that feature little flower girls, and kids dancing on the groom\u2019s toes. <\/p>\n
Then, there\u2019s the weddings that are an oasis of calm, free of screaming children.<\/p>\n
But this groom decided to go for somewhere in between, when he invited all their family and friends\u2019 kids \u2013 apart from one.<\/p>\n
Taking to Reddit, he explained: \u2018I (27m) am getting married in the fall to my fianc\u00e9 (25f) and we\u2019ve decided that friends and family can bring their kids since, for the most part, the kids are well-behaved.<\/p>\n
\u2018The only exception is my cousin Linda\u2019s daughter Cerrie (12). Linda\u2019s entitled and selfish, and she\u2019s made her daughter entitled and selfish.<\/p>\n
\u2018Two years ago my other cousin, Linda\u2019s sister Lily, got married and Cerrie ruined the wedding by throwing a tantrum and destroying the cake because she was jealous that Lily\u2019s daughter was the flower girl.\u2019<\/p>\n
That\u2019s right, a 10-year-old<\/em> threw a cake-wrecking tantrum at a family wedding \u2013 not a great look.<\/p>\n The groom went onto explain that Linda had recently called him, and mentioned how she thought child free weddings were \u2018terrible.\u2019<\/p>\n But the groom decided to grab the bull by the horns. \u2018I told her I wasn\u2019t having a child-free wedding,\u2019 he wrote. \u2018Cerrie just wasn\u2019t invited because of what happened at Lily\u2019s wedding. I don\u2019t want a repeat of Cerrie seeing she\u2019s not the flower girl again and throwing another fit.\u2019<\/p>\n It won\u2019t surprise you to learn that his cousin didn\u2019t take it very well.<\/p>\n The groom-to-be added: \u2018Linda\u2019s since got all her friends and the few people in the family who take her side to bombard me, my fianc\u00e9 and family with texts about how selfish we are for purposefully excluding one child while everyone else can bring their kids.\u2019<\/p>\n People in the comments are overwhelmingly on the poster\u2019s side, with one person writing: \u2018Uninvite anyone that complained.\u2019<\/p>\n Another commenter said: \u2018Tell them the wedding isn\u2019t child-free, but it is feral tyrant-free. Covers Cerrie and Karen [aka Linda]. No one\u2019s obligated nor entitled to be invited to your wedding.\u2019<\/p>\n The groom later added to the post: \u2018Everyone keeps asking \u201cWhy invite Linda at all?\u201d My family is very big on \u201cfamily is everything\u201d, \u201cfamily first\u201d and \u201crespect your elders\u201d \u2013 if I\u2019d not invited Linda and her husband at all, the sh**storm would have been much bigger.\u2019<\/p>\n Still, a major theme in the comments is that Linda and her partner should be uninvited too, given her stance on the matter.<\/p>\n One person advised: \u2018Be prepared that she may bring Cerrie along anyway. IMO you better uninvite her if she\u2019s so unhappy about this arrangement.\u2019<\/p>\n We wonder how his big day is going to pan out\u2026<\/p>\n
