Earlier this week the GMB Union claimed the majority of Wilko stores will close\u00a0in weeks. <\/p>\n
Despite, administrators at PwC, who now control the company, denying this, the future of the chain is still uncertain.<\/p>\n
They confirmed talks were still ongoing with potential buyers in a bid to save all or part of the troubled chain, but they did say that there will likely be store closures and job losses. <\/p>\n
In several gestures of good will, rival chains including discounters and supermarkets, as well as other sectors have offered job possibilities to distressed staff. <\/p>\n

Most recently, Aldi\u00a0has asked that any workers affected by the collapse of\u00a0Wilko\u00a0to get in touch about jobs.<\/p>\n
It said that\u00a0Aldi\u00a0has more than 6,000\u00a0jobs\u00a0available at the moment across its UK stores.<\/p>\n
Aldi is offering various long-term\u00a0retail\u00a0roles which include a range of positions from Store Assistant and Caretaker to Store Manager.<\/p>\n
Its Store Assistants receive starting pay of \u00a311.40 an hour and those based in London receive \u00a312.85 per hour.<\/p>\n

Dunelm<\/h2>\n
When Wilko first collapsed Dunelm was among the first to offer their assistance to employees. <\/p>\n
The discount chain said: "As a fellow retailer, we are very saddened to hear the news<\/span> about Wilko and are thinking of all the colleagues who have been affected.<\/p>\n"We'd like to offer our immediate support and bring to your attention some fantastic opportunities we are currently offering in our retail, head office and distribution."<\/p>\n
It has also agreed a fast-track application process to Wilko workers, guaranteeing all those who apply an opportunity to have an interview.<\/p>\n

Stationery chain The Works was also quick to offer support to Wilko employees.<\/p>\n
In a statement the chain said: "We're genuinely sorry to hear about all the colleagues affected with\u00a0Wilko\u00a0right now.<\/p>\n
"If we can support anyone, please help them get in touch with us and we'll guarantee an interview if there's a role available.\u00a0"<\/p>\n
Wilko workers are being encouraged to share their CVs with the recruitment team at recruitment@theworks.co.uk.<\/p>\n

"We'd like to offer our support and are currently recruiting across retail, distribution and head office functions."<\/p>\n
It urged Wilko worker to "get in touch" or search for available opportunities near you on its careers page jobs.homebargains.co.uk<\/p>\n
The discount chain has around 300 jobs available right now in sales, management, warehouse and head office.<\/p>\n
Store team members earn up to \u00a311.86 an hour, while team leader jobs can get you as much as \u00a328,000 – although this does depend on the shop location,<\/p>\n
Individual rates of pay are listed on each job advert.<\/p>\n
Hobbycraft<\/h2>\n
