A previous winner of Dancing on Ice thinks that he would be the perfect co-host for Holly Willoughby.

Phillip Schofield, 61, previously stepped down from all of his roles at ITV after he admitted that he had lied over a consensual affair with a younger colleague at This Morning.

This now leaves Holly, 42, without a co-host as bosses search for Phillip's replacement on the primetime skating programme

Now former Capital Breakfast presenter Sonny Jay, 30, has weighed in, hinting that he would be the perfect choice to replace the star.

The radio personality previously won the ice dancing show in 2021 alongside his partner, professional skater Angela Egan.

But in a new interview with Digital Spy, it seems he is firmly throwing his hat into the ring to host the show.

When asked who he thought might replace Phillip, he joked: "I think you're looking at the guy."

"I mean, it makes sense being on the show, you know?" he added.

However, he went on to add it was "more than likely" that Stephen Mulhern will go on to take over the reins of the show.

"Listen, I think it was Stephen Mulhern who stepped in a couple of times," he declared. "Stephen Mulhern gets everything, so it's more than likely going to go to him."

This comes after it was reported in August that Stephen Mulhurn was reportedly set to replacePhillip Schofield as the new presenter of Dancing on Ice.

The 46-year-old has allegedly been offered the huge gig and is planning on accepting, reports The Mirror.

It is believed that Stephen, who was confirmed as the host of the rebooted Deal or No Deal, is expected to be announced as the new presenter.

The Catchphrase star already has experience on the skating competition as he stepped in for Phillip, 61, last February after he contracted Covid.

The ITV star was an immediate hit with fans and has been one of the favourites to replace Phillip following his affair scandal.

An insider told The Mirror: “Stephen is the perfect choice. Not only does he get on brilliantly with Holly, he is relaxed and fun which sits well with a show like Dancing on Ice.”

Others tipped for the gig are This Morning favourite Dermot O’Leary as well as Jane McDonald, who stood in for the TV presenter at the British Soap Awards in June.

ITV said in a statement to Daily Star: "We will be confirming details about Dancing on Ice 2024 in due course".
