TENNIS star Carlos Alcaraz was forced to call a physio after cutting his finger during the Cincinnati Open final on Sunday.

The Spaniard fell to a 7-5, 6-7 (7-9), 6-7 (4-7) defeat to Novak Djokovic just five weeks after the two came face to face at the Wimbledon final.

After winning the first set, Alcaraz lost a championship point in the second before narrowly losing out again in the third.

The 20-year-old let his frustration get the better of him midway through the match when he slammed his hand down on a plastic box during a break… which led to him cutting his finger.

He then had to call the physio over to get it bandaged up before play continued.

Alcaraz broke down in tears after the nearly four-hour match, while Djokovic admitted it was one of the "toughest" matches he had ever played in.

The Serbianstar also received treatment from the physio during the match.

After struggling with the brutal 35 degree heat during the first set, he was checked over by medics during a break before continuing.

Djokovic was then able to fight back in the second and third sets.

And he ripped off his shirt in celebration after claiming the match point.
