CHART-topping pop star Calum Scott has reflected on his rise to fame admitting it "blows my mind".

The former Britain's Got Talent star, 34, has gone from working at the council to achieving a billion streams for his cover of Robyn's hit Dancing On My Own.

Last year he performed at the King's Coronation with Take That and he is currently on a world tour – and soon to release his third album.

But a decade ago chart success was a just a pipe dream as he penned songs at home in his bedroom.

Calum said: "It blows my little Yorkshire mind to bits.

"There are moments where you have reality hit whilst you're on stage. Singing for the King is the craziest thing I've ever done.

"Then there's singing with pop royalty – Gary Barlow and the Take That boys, be singing to all these people and then my brain will flash me back to when I was working at the council, sat at my desk, dreaming of performing for audiences – not even across the world, just in my home town.

"We were performing in Turkey for the first time the other night and it's now rare for me to say that, because I've been so lucky to tour in most countries.

"It is a surreal feeling; my imposter syndrome goes off massively.

"I'm just absolutely loving it. I'm so grateful and can't think of anything else I'd rather do."

</picture>

</picture>

</picture>

</picture>

Revealing that he's eager to keep his feet on the ground, he told Metro: "Craziness does set in from time to time because it's not real.

"I spend the time I get off back up in my home town with my best friends.

"I've known since before music, and with my family. Being Uncle Calum to my nephew and going to the park is more important than me being a pop star.

"Things like that keep me grounded.

"And then when Im away on tour, I'm lucky that I'm surrounded by the most amazing team – so when things do get tough on tour, which they do, as much as this is a dream job…

"Having that support network makes sure you're talking about it and not locked in your hotel room shutting the world out."

He shot to fame back in 2015 after competing on Britain's Got Talent, where he performed his version of Robyn's hit Dancing On My Own.

After coming sixth in the contest, Calum released his version as a single the following year, which peaked at No2 on the UK Singles Chart and became Britain's best-selling single of summer 2016.

He released his debut album Only Human in 2018, which was followed in 2022 by Bridges.

Earlier this year, the singer confessed he's keen to become a father.

He said: ""I’ve got this amazing career, and I hope to have it for the rest of my life, but what’s outside this job?

"I want to have my own family. I want to be able to do all that sort of stuff.

"This year I told myself I would look at surrogacy and what that looks like, and how to start my own family. Hopefully, as we go through this year, I’ll be sat making plans."

BBC Breakfast star flooded with support as she leaves show in goodbye post
