Some sorry staff have to make do with a threadbare plastic tree and a few battered baubles harking from a 1970s office attic.

But this monstrous 600ft long ivy turns a humble Gloucestershire workspace into a winter wonderland every Christmas.

Decorated with thousands of lights and ornaments, the huge specimen drapes its leaves over every desk at packaging specialists Protective Solutions Limited in Stonehouse.

But the botanical beast started life as a modest office plant a few feet high in 2009 – and is said to grow six inches a month, now covering every corner of the 50ft by 25ft open-plan space.

Meanwhile, aptly-named office administrator Holly transformed the ivy this year as she and colleague Mary took around two days to adorn it with 3,000 fairy lights.

It has brightened the place up decorating it and I don’t want it to come down.’

Holly Wright said: ‘It’s nice to come into work and do something fun and festive.

‘You have to be very careful with where you hang baubles just in case.

‘Some people have been knocking their heads on them.’
