LIDL shoppers have been rushing to buy a sell-out winter gadget that that some say is the "best thing I've ever brought".

The discount supermarket chain is selling a bargain heated blanket, and it costs just 1p to run.

The Silentnight Comfort Control blanket returned in November for the first time this winter.

The energy-saving gadget sends shoppers into a frenzy each time it returns to stores.

As soon as it lands on Lidl shelves, it flies off the shelves pretty quickly.

But one lucky shopper managed to bag the popular gizmo for 50% less than its original price.

The bargain was shared on Hotukdeals, with one shopper writing: "Silentnight electric blanket king size 50% at Lidl instore at Lidl in Halifax."

The Lidl customer bagged a king size blanket for £14.99, reduced from £29.99 – a saving of £14.99.

A single is 65cm wide by 135cm tall, a double is 120cm by 135cm, and a king is 137cm by 165cm.

When it returned to stores in November, the heated blanket cost £19.99 for a single and £24.99 for a double.

</picture>LUCKY DRAW

</picture>OH CRUMBS

</picture>LUCKY POST

</picture>LUCKY WINNER?

The gadget will cost you just 1p an hour to run as they only use 40W of energy.

This means it can be a great alternative to putting the heating on as it's much cheaper to run than if you heat your whole house.

Shoppers heap praise on the gadget every time it returns to Lidl.

Writing on Hotukdeals, one shopper said: "Literally the best thing I’ve ever bought."

Another said: "I got one of these absolute game changers. The bed becomes so warm and toasty."

And a third added: "Cracking deal for those that need them."

The blanket comes with a single detachable control with three heat settings.

It's made of polyester microfleece and is secured with an elastic belly band.

According to Lidl, it take 15 minutes to heat up to 37C.

Plus, you can use it all night long because it has over-heat protection too.

You'll be able to buy the heated blanket in store but it isn't available online.

It's not clear if the 50% off deal is available at all Lidl stores, so make sure you double check the price at the checkout before you buy.

You can find your nearest Lidl using the store locator tool on the chain's website.

As always it is good to shop around the make sure you are getting the cheapest deal.

There are several heated blankets and throws on offer at the moment from different retailers.

We had a look and found that Lidl's price beats other shops selling the same Silentnight gadget.

You can get a double sized gadget at Asda for £25 at the moment, reduced from £28.

Matalan is selling a single for £25, while Argos has the same size listed for £35.

But remember to always have a quick shop around first as you might be able to find a similar product cheaper elsewhere.

I was homeless after my landlord put the rent up… now I’ve won a £5m house
