Kevin McCloud details which Grand Designs home he\u2019d live in<\/h3>\n

Kevin McCloud has opened up about the tragic death of two Grand Designs stars which happened during filming for the Channel 4 series.<\/p>\n

In a new interview, Kevin discussed the heartbreaking loss of one guest and explained that “personal issues” had come up several times when filming their episodes.<\/p>\n

Speaking ahead of the episode, which is yet to air, Kevin said: “We are doing a very difficult project right now.<\/p>\n

“We had no idea and neither did our contributors, but the husband fell gravely ill and passed away during the filming process, and it makes the narrative very hard to graft. Because you think where do we go [from here]?\u201d<\/p>\n

The Channel 4 presenter went on to detail the death of another Grand Designs star, Nat McBride, who died before he got to complete his project.<\/p>\n

Nat died of stomach cancer during filming for an episode of Grand Designs. It meant his wife Lucie Fairweather had to finish the project alone.<\/p>\n

Kevin said Nat, who was a sustainability campaigner, and Lucie, a teacher, were going to build a chalet bungalow with amazing architecture.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn day one he announces on camera that he\u2019s got stomach cancer,” he told New Zealand publication Stuff.<\/p>\n

“He passed away six months later, and we had one day\u2019s filming in the can. And then 18 months later, Lucy rang up and said, \u2018I\u2019m going to do this by myself\u2019, with her two children.”<\/p>\n
