IONA STEPHEN once had dreams of becoming a professional golfer only for a wrist injury to stop her.<\/strong><\/p>\n She is now working in the sport as a presenter for Sky Sports.<\/p>\n Iona regularly fronts the broadcaster's coverage of the DP World Tour and majors such as The Open and The Masters.<\/p>\n However, she had once aspired to have been on the other side as a professional golfer.<\/p>\n In a heartfelt Instagram post, Iona revealed what she went through to get to where she is now.<\/p>\n She wrote: "I guess the lesson is\u2026whatever life throws at you, keep going if you can\u2026as you never know what\u2019s around the corner. <\/p>\n "Grateful for all the setbacks and for all life has offered me so far.<\/p>\n "Keep on going xx."<\/p>\n The video showed her struggle with injury and how she underwent surgery to help her wrist.<\/p>\n She revealed that doctors told her that she would never play golf again, which saw her try to learn to play left-handed.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Iona even had more surgery to have cells from her legs injected into her wrist.<\/p>\n The procedure did not do enough to help her return to playing, however, she found a new way of working in golf.<\/p>\n Iona started working for Sky Sports by reporting on golfing events.<\/p>\n She showcased some of her work at tournaments such as the Ryder Cup as well as interviews with pro golfers.<\/p>\n She has built up an impressive following on social media due to her work, with 149k followers on Instagram.<\/p>\n Her fans flooded the comment section with messages of support.<\/p>\n One fan wrote: "Such an inspirational life journey."<\/p>\n A second commented: "Well I think you're awesome."<\/p>\n A third said: "Absolute inspiration."<\/p>\n A fourth added: "We\u2019re so happy you haven\u2019t been lost to the game. You bring such a freshness to on course commentating."<\/p>\n
