Cliff Richard was put in his place by Alison Hammond on Monday after he fat-shamed Elvis during his appearance on This Morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n
During his interview the singer, 83, revealed that he once turned down the opportunity to meet the rock and roll legend because he had ‘put on weight.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
Cliff, who only eats one meal per day, began: ‘I got the opportunity to meet him via a journalist who knew I was heavily influenced by him.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘But I turned it down because I knew he had put on lots of weight and I thought, “If I am having a photo with him and I have it hanging on my refrigerator, of course he’s got to look good.”‘\u00a0<\/p>\n
He concluded: ‘And I put it off and, of course, then he died.’<\/p>\n

Alison responded: ‘You should never have put it off just because they\u2019re a little bit heavier.’<\/p>\n
Richard then explained to the viewers: ‘You should take the chance to meet your idols\u00a0even if they\u2019ve put on weight.’<\/p>\n
‘Is that why you don\u2019t want me at your house?’ Alison hit back, before changing the topic.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Elsewhere in the interview, Cliff revealed that he only eats one meal a day\u00a0as he explained: ‘It’s true, I do only have one meal a day. I stick with that.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘I realise that I’m just not hungry. I have yoghurt with some muesli for breakfast then come lunch I’m just not hungry.’<\/p>\n
Elvis famously passed away in August 1977 at the age of 42, dependent on prescription drugs.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A\u00a0visibly star-struck Sarah Ferguson gushed over Sir <\/span>Cliff\u00a0as she interviewed him while co-hosting the show – only for the veteran singer to shut down her praise.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The Duchess of York, 64, appeared as a guest editor on today’s show and presented alongside Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Oops: Cliff began: ‘I got the opportunity to meet him via a journalist who knew I was heavily influenced by him. ‘But I turned it down because I knew he had put on lots of weight\u00a0<\/p>\n Sitting next to Cliff on the sofa, Sarah said: ‘I can’t get over it, it’s just incredible.\u00a0<\/p>\n ‘You know, Sir Cliff, sitting here with you, I\u2019m lost for words and that\u2019s very unlike me!’\u00a0<\/p>\n Shutting down the compliment, Sir Cliff responded with: ‘Oh come on, you’re never lost for words.’\u00a0<\/p>\n Undeterred by the comment, the mother-of-two then went on to reference one of her favourite songs by the singer, who has been making music for over 65 years.\u00a0<\/p>\n
