Today Darren Day and Christine Hamilton appeared on Good Morning Britain to share their thoughts on the new series and share secrets from their time on the show.

Darren, 55, and Christine, 74, were among the very first I'm a Celebrity campmates back in 2001.

Christine told how she initially turned the show down, saying: "I just said no, but I had no idea what I was turning down.

"It was a life changing moment for me."

During the interview Darren revealed that while in the jungle he was going cold turkey from his addictions to alcohol and cocaine.

He said: "I literally went cold turkey in front of the whole country. I was smashed when I got on the plane [to Australia]."

When asked by host Richard Madeley if he managed to stay clean after two weeks on the show, Darren replied: "I was straight back into active addiction."

Talking about his time in the jungle, he added: "I was just an idiot, I'm not surprised people didn't like me."

Fans took to social media afterwards to praise Darren for his honesty, with one writing: "Darren Day a massive well done for turning things round in his life."

Another said: "So honest and and so brave.
