A HIGHLY mutated Covid\u00a0variant, nicknamed 'Pirola' is the latest strain to do the rounds. <\/p>\n

Dr Johannes Uys, a GP from\u00a0Broadgate General Practice, told the Express: "Covid Pirola can cause visible facial symptoms such as eye irritation (pink eye) and a skin rash\u201d.<\/p>\n

Doctors have found the new bug affects the upper respiratory tract, which includes the nose and voice box.<\/p>\n

Dr Erick Eiting from Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital in New York, US, said: "It isn\u2019t the same typical symptoms that we were seeing before.<\/p>\n

"It\u2019s a lot of congestion, sometimes sneezing, usually a\u00a0mild sore throat."<\/p>\n
