<\/p>\nSIR David Attenborough is a national treasure after decades of fame.<\/p>\n
He is best known for his wildlife documentary career, but away from the screen he is a dad.<\/p>\n

Not much is known about David Attenborough's children.<\/p>\n
Despite having such a famous dad, the two of them tend to stay out of the spotlight.<\/p>\n
However, they haven't fallen into too dissimilar career's to David.<\/p>\n
David has two children, a son called Robert and a daughter called Susan.<\/p>\n
Not much information is available on Susan as she lives a life away from fame.<\/p>\n However, it is known that David's daughter Susan is a former primary school headmistress.<\/p>\n It's thought she is in her fifties or sixties but an exact age isn't known.<\/p>\n In 2017, Sir David was interviewed by fellow dad Louis Theroux in the Radio Times, when he opened up about his regrets regarding missing some of his children's youth. <\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n He said: "If I do have regrets, it is that when my children were the same age as your children, I was away for three months at a time. <\/p>\n "If you have a child of six or eight and you miss three months of his or her life, it\u2019s irreplaceable. You miss something."<\/p>\n David's son Robert is a senior lecturer in bioanthropology for the School of Archaeology and Anthropology at the Australian National University in Canberra.<\/p>\n His most recent research had been focused on Papua New Guinea.<\/p>\n As of 2023 it's thought he is also in his fifties or sixties, but his exact age isn't known.<\/p>\n In another interview with The Times, he shared a story from his son Robert's eighth birthday. <\/p>\n He gave Robert a salamander (a lizard-like animal) as a present, just like Sir David's father had done.<\/p>\n He said: "We unpacked this – it came in a box – I took it out and showed him.<\/p>\n "I said, 'Now there you are.' This thing just sat on his hand. I said, 'Put him in his new home.'<\/p>\n "He put him in his new home, and it very slowly walked down to the water and there out from beneath its tail came a little one. <\/p>\n "My son looked at that with his eyes coming out of his head – as did I."<\/p>\n In 2020, David would say in another interview with The Times that he wanted children to be educated about the natural world. <\/p>\n He said: "I think it's terrible that children should grow up without knowing what a tadpole is. Just awful. <\/p>\n "I can\u2019t criticise other people how they bring up their children, but in my time I could, and did, get on a bicycle and cycle 15 miles to a quarry and spend the day looking for dragonflies, grass snakes and newts." <\/p>\n Sir David married his wife Jane Oriel in 1950.<\/p>\n David was 24-years-old at the time, while Jane is thought to have been about 23.<\/p>\n She was originally from Merthyr Tydfil, a small Welsh town 37km north of the capital, Cardiff, but she moved with Attenborough to a home in Richmond Upon Thames in London.<\/p>\n She passed away in 1997 due to a brain haemorrhage at the age of 70.<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/roscoe-comp.jpg\")
