Burgers are the go-to choice for a number of food lovers thanks to both their versatility and simplicity.

Perfect to eat in a restaurant, on the go, or by making your own at home, they are an undoubted staple of the culinary universe.

However, a disagreement surrounds the food when it comes to how it should be correctly consumed.

Should you just dive in all guns blazing? Or eat it in a more considered manner with a knife and fork?

It turns out that neither of these ways are correct, according to content creator Max Klymenko, who released a TikTok stating that you should in fact eat a burger by turning it upside down.

Max Klymenko says that flipping the burger upside down helps it to better absorb all the juices from the meat, sauces and toppings inside

Klymenko adds there is a purpose behind this, as doing so stops the burger from falling apart once you have ravenously bitten a chunk out of it

Explaining why this is the best way to eat a burger, Mr Klymenko says that flipping the burger upside down helps it to better absorb all the juices from the meat, sauces and toppings inside.

While it may seem like a crime to eat it what many people would consider to be the wrong way up, Klymenko adds there is a purpose behind this, as doing so stops the burger from falling apart once you have ravenously bitten a chunk out of it.

Klymenko’s tips caused consternation among other users, who debated fiercely over how a burger should be eaten.

One user said: ‘Bro I always got clowned for flipping my burger when I eat it’.

A second argued: ‘Ain’t no way I’m eating is upside down bro’.

A third commented: ‘I’m not eating the burger that way and I never will’.

Klymenko’s advice comes as a Michelin-starred chef has revealed you should never cook your burgers on the barbecue – describing it as a ‘horrible’ way to cook meat.

David Chang, whose flagship restaurant Momofuku in New York has two Michelin stars, said a barbecue is just a ‘marketing lie’.

Speaking on his podcast, The David Chang Show, the chef, 45, explained: ‘Grills suck for burgers.

‘We have assumed as a culture that in summer, we eat a burger, and it’s grilled.

‘I actually think the grill is a horrible thing for the burger … I think this viewpoint could get me in trouble.’
