Woman, 102, ‘tells care home staff she killed 92-year-old neighbour’

A 102-year-old woman told care home staff she battered her 92-year-old neighbour to death, according to reports.

The elderly woman confessed to workers at the Chézy-sur-Marne facility in northern France that she had "killed someone" on Saturday morning.

Following the attack the centurion was taken to a psychiatric hospital by authorities.

Tests are now being carried out to determine whether she is criminally responsible.

Prosecutor Frederic Trinh said: "The resident of the neighbouring room, aged 102, appeared in great agitation and told one of the medical staff that she had 'killed someone'."

Her neighbour was found lying in her own bed with a bruised and swollen face.

It was concluded she died of "strangulation and blows to the head" at a post-mortem exam.

The woman has been charged with "voluntary homicide against a person vulnerable due to their physical condition."

Although it has not been possible to interrogate her, the case has not been closed.
