Nolan sisters Linda and Anne battle cancer together

Nolan sisters Linda and Anne battle cancer together after being diagnosed with the disease just DAYS apart

  • Anne Nolan, 69, was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer earlier this year
  • Her sister Linda, 61, found out she has incurable liver cancer just few days later
  • Pair have vowed to beat the disease that killed their sister Bernie, 52, in 2013

Nolan sisters Linda and Anne have revealed they are battling cancer together after being diagnosed with the disease just days apart.

The sisters, who formed part of Irish pop group The Nolans, endured a round of chemotherapy together at Blackpool’s Victoria Hospital last month after receiving the shock diagnoses.

Anne, 69, found out she has stage three breast cancer shortly after the pair returned from filming a series of The Nolans Go Cruising with sisters Coleen and Maureen in March.

She discovered the lump leading to her diagnosis in April, exactly 20 years after she was first found to have the disease in 2000.

Her sister Linda, 61, found out she has incurable liver cancer days later.

The pop star has also battled cancer before, after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, cellulitis and lymphoedema in her arm in 2007 and secondary cancer on her pelvis in 2017.

The sisters have now both lost their hair after undergoing chemotherapy.

But both Anne and Linda are determined to beat the disease which killed their sister Bernie in 2013.

Mother-of-two Anne told the Sun: ‘I don’t want to die. I love my life so much. I love my daughters, my grandchildren, my friends, all my family. I want to live for as long as I possibly can.’

Linda said she thought her scans ‘would be just fine as they normally are’, before her oncologist’s office phoned her to say she needed an MRI scan when they found something on her liver.

This was just half an hour after her sister Maureen had called her to deliver the news that Anne’s breast cancer had returned.

‘I couldn’t tell anyone then because they were so obviously devastated about Anne,’ she said. ‘I thought, “I can’t turn around now and say, ‘Actually I’ve got it back as well’.”‘

After the sisters received their devastating diagnoses, Maureen moved in with Anne and Linda relocated to her sister Denise’s home.

The sisters had their first session of chemotherapy together on June 5, and will both have six rounds of the treatment in total.

Anne, who was in hospital for 11 days amid her treatment, will then have either a mastectomy or lumpectomy, most likely followed by radiotherapy.

Speaking of the moment they were diagnosed, Linda recalled: ‘We laughed and we cried really, It’s hysterical.’

‘Forget the Chemical Brothers, we’ve become the Chemo Sisters,’ she added.
