This is the nerve-wracking moment a lumberjack is almost crushed when a tree falls the wrong way and crashes down onto a cabin roof.

Video creator Matt Charland, 36, captured footage of himself cutting down the tree in Quebec, Canada, next to his classic sugar shack used for tapping maple syrup.

Matt used to cut down trees on a regular basis, but said this particular one had a weird angle and was very tall.

This is the nerve-wracking moment a lumberjack is almost crushed when a tree falls the wrong way and crashes down onto a cabin roof in Canada

The footage was captured by video creator Matt Charland, 36, in Quebec next to his classic sugar shack used for tapping maple syrup

The video shows Matt hammering a wedge with the back of his axe to fell the tree.

The notch has already been cut and the tree should fall away from both Matt and the cabin.

However, the tree slides along the cut as a man in the background shouts ‘Watch out!’

Matt runs away from the falling tree before it drops towards the cabin with one man saying ‘oh no’ repeatedly and screams of ‘the cabin, the cabin’ in French.

After the tree has fallen, he walks along the trunk as the video shows the cabin impact has split the tree in half.

Matt used to cut down trees on a regular basis, but said this particular one was angled weirdly and very tall

It then cuts to another camera angle where the full height of the tree can be seen as it falls.

Matt told MailOnline: ‘Only the door knob was broken which is a miracle.

‘We screamed ‘the cabin, the cabin’ while the tree was falling down, which made no sense since the tree was already falling!’
