Adorable moment a six-year-old boy with Down’s syndrome does a Klinsmann-style celebration after scoring a half-time penalty in front of a packed football stadium

  • Eli Fisher was given the chance to score with Swansea City’s mascot in goal
  • Clip of him hitting the back of the net was filmed by his father Greg last week
  • Celebration, similar to German player Jurgen Klinsmann, came after 1-1 draw

This is the adorable moment a six-year-old with Down’s syndrome stole the hearts of 18,000 football fans – by performing a ‘Klinsmann’ dive after scoring against the mascot at half time.

Little Eli Fisher was brought onto the pitch at the Liberty Stadium last Wednesday to try his luck against Swansea City’s mascot Cyril the Swan.

His right-footed shot hit the back of the net and he couldn’t hide his joy as he sprinted towards his father Greg who was waiting on the touchline.

But instead of running into his father’s arms he dramatically dived chest-down onto the turf – recreating the goal celebration made famous by German player Jurgen Klinsmann in the 1990s.

Mr Fisher posted the heart-warming clip online where it has had more than 2.5million views since Swansea drew 1-1 with Derby last week.

Eli has even become a mini-celebrity in his home village of Gowerton, near Swansea.

Greg, 48, said: ‘My wife was out with him in B&Q yesterday and someone came up and said. ‘that’s the little boy from the video’.

‘He’s a little superstar. He’s such a happy child, he’s constantly smiling, its so infectious.’

The ‘Klinsmann dive’ was practised by the German striker and his Tottenham Hotspur team mates during his brief spell at the club in 1994 and 1995.
