I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! was due to be wrapping up its first week of antics in Wales. However, in a surprise announcement, ITV has confirmed the show will not go ahead as scheduled this weekend.

Why is I’m A Celebrity not on this weekend?

For any fans looking forward to enjoying the next instalment of I’m A Celebrity, ITV just broke the bitter news.

Sadly, for both Saturday and Sunday’s broadcasts, the show will not air as scheduled.

The weekend episodes have been cancelled due to the ongoing Storm Arwen which has hit the UK overnight.

Despite the production team preparing for such events, the severity of the weather has led to the show being put on hold until it passes.

An official statement by ITV read: “Owing to technical difficulties caused by extreme weather conditions in the area, there will be no new episodes of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! this weekend (Saturday and Sunday).”

The statement also clarified the safety of the celebrities, but did highlight the production had “sustained significant damage.”

The statement continued: “The celebrities are safe and currently within the Castle. However, our production base sustained significant damage during last night’s storm.

“As a consequence, only essential crew are currently on site, the wellbeing of our cast and crew is of utmost priority to us.”

It looks as though the show will be back to its normal schedule on Monday, though this could change due to the severity of the storm.

However, I’m A Celebrity won’t be completely off screens this weekend, as ITV is airing a montage show of previous seasons highlights.

Ant and Dec will be commentating over the episode, giving viewers something new to enjoy while looking back over the years.

The duo themselves addressed the situation on Friday, making it clear it just isn’t possible for the show to go ahead.

Addressing fans on social media, the pair explained how the planned live show had to be cancelled and filming was going ahead early to try and beat the storm.

ITV has not clarified if this means the overall schedule will be pushed back, moving the season final from December 12 to December 14.

It also hasn’t clarified if there will be another attempt at the live show, though this will most likely happen.

The harsh British weather is a new challenge for the team to face, as this is only the second year in Gwyrch Castle.

Last year went off without a hitch, as the weather didn’t prove to be too much of a challenge.

Obviously, with the safety of the celebrities and crew assured, it is only a matter of waiting for the storm to pass now.

ITV will likely give fans another update on the situation soon.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here will continue at 9pm on Monday on ITV.
