Power may have finished but the show’s universe will be expanding with four spin-off series. One of which will be Power Book IV: Force, focusing on what Tommy Egan (played by Joseph Sikora) gets up to next after leaving New York City. Actor Sikora wasn’t the show’s first choice though as there was another actor the creators had in mind.

Which Power star could have played Tommy Egan instead of Joseph Sikora?

Sikora wasn’t able to make the first round of auditions for Power in 2013 as he was getting married.

But the opportunity came up again when the show cast Omari Hardwick as its Ghost.

Speaking to South African publication Channel 24 Sikora said: “I believe that they already had their final choice, but then Omari Hardwick signed onto the project and they had to go through the audition process again. Luckily, this time I was available.”

This “first choice” was someone that Power fans will recognise.

Originally, actor Andy Bean had been up for the part of Tommy in the original Power drama.

However, once Hardwick was hired for the role, the creators reportedly started the auditioning process again as they were looking to have someone who matched his build.

But they didn’t want to let Bean go altogether so instead they cast him to portray FBI Agent Greg Knox.

He was in an on-off relationship with James’ true love Angela Valdes (Lela Loren).

Greg and Angela broke up on more than one occasion as she was still in love with Ghost.

He later discovered James’ true identity was the notorious drug dealer and wanted to put him and Angela behind bars, believing she was covering up his illicit activities.

But in season three, he was killed by corrupt FBI Assistant US attorney Mike Sandoval (Daniel Fumero).

He had been secretly working as a double agent, both investigating and working for drug lord Lobos who wanted Greg out of the picture.

Tommy was one of the suspects believed to have been capable of Ghost’s murder in season six.

While he was the drug dealer’s best friend, they had a falling out when Ghost persuaded Tommy it was the right thing to do to kill his own dad.

In revenge, Tommy was ready to shoot Ghost but ended up killing Angela instead.

But it turned out Tommy wasn’t the murderer when he was seen cradling Ghost’s body after he had been shot and fallen off the Truth nightclub rooftop.

Tommy showed up in New York again in the first season of Power Book II: Ghost.

Tasha St Patrick (Naturi Naughton) claimed he was the real killer in court to protect Tariq St Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr) and so Tommy tried and failed to murder her twice.

But will he return in Power Book II’s second season to try for a third time?

The Power franchise is available to watch on Starz and Amazon Prime Video.
