Walk The Line returned for a fourth show on Wednesday night with musicians once again battling it out in the hopes of winning a cash prize. Dawn French, Craig David, Alesha Dixon, and Gary Barlow are the famous faces on the judging panel of the ITV singing show. However, Alesha appeared to anger some viewers on Wednesday as some accused her of being too critical with her comments. Many took to Twitter to hit out at the pop star turned talent judge.

Walk The Line is the new singing contest with a twist that sees wannabe stars take to the stage as they compete to win a cash prize of up to £500,000.

On the first episode of the ITV show, host Maya Jama described the competition as “the ultimate game of winner stays on”.

Wannabe pop star Ella Rothwell won the first three episodes of the show, but on Wednesday night, she had some fierce competition.

The 28-year-old singer performed an original song as she went up against four new challengers.

The first new competitor was a five-piece band called Deco, who also showcased an original song.

Most of the judges were impressed by the group’s upbeat performance.

Dawn praised the band, saying: “You look amazing and I love that whole 80s vibe. That was my era as well Gary, I’m a bit older than you.

“But, I think you are so very different that you will give this audience something fresh to think about,” she added.

However, Alesha wasn’t in complete agreement as she complimented the group, but suggested they didn’t pose a threat to Ella.

She began: “Congratulations on a fantastic opening to the show, it’s never easy to go first.

“Vocally I’m not sure if it was stronger than Ella. So, personally I’m not sure if I think you guys are true contenders, even though I still appreciated that performance and how magical you guys are together on stage,” Alesha remarked.

Many viewers took to Twitter to hit out at Alesha, claiming some of her comments were too “harsh”.

“Where does Alesha get off criticising singers #WalkTheLine,” @annascott2020 said.

“Harsh words from Alesha #WalkTheLine,” @chcolatethunda wrote.

“Jesus, Alesha is no fun #WalkTheLine,” @karubeliott commented.

“Funny hearing Alesha Dixon diss someone’s original song. She literally sang a song about washing up. #WalkTheLine,” @leewillgregory fumed.

Meanwhile, some viewers compared her to the notoriously critical music mogul Simon Cowell.

@SaraDatez comment: “Alesha’s trying to be Simon Cowell with a critical opinion about everyone! #WalkTheLine #aleshadixon.”

@BobbyGlennie added: “Alesha’s clearly Simon’s spokesperson with that guff #WalkTheLine.”

Walk The Line continues every night this week with a final winner being crowned on Friday night.

Walk The Line airs weekdays at 8pm on ITV.
