These Are the Absolute Best Shows on HBO Max (So Far)

Over the past couple of years, there’s been an absolute explosion of streaming services, and though it’s hard to beat the OGs (Netflix and Hulu) we need to face the facts: HBO Max is currently where it’s at. Not only is this streaming service the home of Friends these days, but it’s also bringing us a Gossip Girl reboot and so many new releases that are dropping at the same time they would have hit theaters. And when it comes to TV in general, HBO Max’s original series are pretty amazing.

The Flight Attendant

There’s a reason everyone is talking about The Flight Attendant and Kaley Cuoco’s talents right now: This show is good. Basically, Cuoco’s character wakes up next to a dead man after a one-night stand, and now, she has to figure out what happened. Also, heads up to Grey’s Anatomy fans, because George is in this, too.

Selena + Chef

If you love Selena Gomez, you will love this show. In Selena & Chef, the actress-turned-singer-turned-everything-else learns how to cook while quarantined at home by getting lessons from chefs who teach her via video chat. Relatable!

Doom Patrol

Starring Matt Bomer, Brendan Fraser, and Orange is the New Black star Diane Guerrero, Doom Patrol is about the members of DC Comics’ Doom Patrol (obvs). They each have powers, but the way they got them is pretty tragic, giving each member a pretty fascinating backstory in the process.

Close Enough

Feeling like you’re only kind of an adult? So are the characters in this animated series about being in your 30s and figuring out grown up life without making yourself miserable.

Love Life

Love Life has a pretty interesting concept. It’s an anthology series about a person’s romances over the course of their life, and each season follows a different person. Season 1 starred Anna Kendrick, and William Jackson Harper is set to play the lead when the show returns for season 2.

Raised By Wolves

This Ridley Scott series is about a future where actual androids are raising children on a new planet because Earth has been destroyed by religious wars. But it’s not going to be that easy to start over, especially since the old problems from Earth have followed them there.

Legendary


Legendary is a ballroom dancing competition show based on voguing, that comes with a pretty impressive team of judges: Dashaun Wesley, Megan Thee Stallion, Jameela Jamil, Law Roach, and Leiomy Maldonado. It combines fashion and dance in a way that’s both fun and fascinating to watch.

Pursuit Of Happiness

If you fell in love with Ravi Patel’s adorable family on Meet The Patels, don’t worry — they’re back. In Pursuit of Happiness, the Patels are traveling around the world, visiting Japan, Mexico, Denmark, and South Korea, and learning about these different countries in the process.
