The Masked Singer: Badger identity ’exposed’ as US star in hidden periodic table clue

The Masked Singer: Badger gives judges clues

ITV viewers have seen four famous faces unmasked on The Masked Singer so far, with footballing legend Glenn Hoddle becoming the latest to be revealed last weekend as the man behind Grandfather Clock. With there still a list of stars left to guess, some fans are sure they’ve worked out Badger as singer Ne-Yo, after pointing out a key they noted in one of his clue packages from earlier on in the series, which saw the chemical symbol for Neon circle on a periodic table – the letters Ne.

All eight remaining celebrities will fight it out on tonight’s programme to ensure they don’t have to give up their identities.

However, with another star set to be exposed this evening, fans are sure they’ve worked out who Badger is after spotting a giveaway hint.

Some Reddit users have now speculated it could indeed be Ne-Yo behind the costume of Badger after spotting an intricate detail in a previous clue package.

User Ali3nat0r said: “For a brief moment during Badger’s VT tonight, the Periodic Table was visible with some elements circled.

“They are: Americium (Am), Iron (Fe), Krypton (Kr), Lawrencium (Lr), Lithium (Li), Neon (Ne), Sulfur (S), Tantalum (Ta), Tin (Sn), Uranium (U).

“Notably Neon (Ne) is circled in a different colour to the others, further fuelling the possibility that he is Ne-Yo,” they concluded.

The poster went on: “Alternatively, the symbols could spell out a message of some kind. I did think he might be someone related to metal due to how many metals are in that list, along with other references sprinkled throughout both VTs…”

User Prestigious_Tough845 agreed with the hint: “The periodic table had 10, 39 and 76 circled hmmmm. 10 Is Ne, 39 is Y and 76 is OS.”

Masked Singer: Badger gives away identity clues

Poster _Thingamajig_ wrote: “The other metals especially tin could be referring to Ne-Yo’s role in the wiz live as the tin man.”

It’s not the first time fans have guessed it could be the US hitmaker behind the intriguing character.

Some had previously pointed out Ne Yo had been pictured in the UK alongside Stefflon Don, around the time the show was filmed in September.

It’s also been speculated one clue the star gave of seeing things “like a virtual world” is in reference to Ne-Yo’s stage name, based on Matrix character, Neo.

And some have already taken to social media site Twitter to give their thoughts on Ne-Yo possibly being Badger.

One commented: “Last week he said he “sees things in a virtual reality” Neo from the Matrix. Neyo…. #MaskedSingerUK.”

“Badger must be Neyo! It’s the same voice I swear  #MaskedSingerUK,” wrote another user.

A third said: “Badger is Ne-Yo on #maskedsinger Ne circled on the periodic table clue, ‘lives in a virtual world’ Neo from Matrix referring to his stage name. Sounds like him as well.”

“Based solely on the singing voice I think the badger is Ne-Yo, but the English speaking accent and clues indicate it isn’t so I don’t know #maskedsinger,” remarked a fourth.

Badger remains the favourite to win the singing competition as he continues to confuse the panel over who he might really be.

According to bookmakers Betfair, Badger is at 10/11 odds to steal the title on the show’s second UK season.

But who will be the next celebrity to have to expose their true identity on the latest edition of the weirdest show on television?

The Masked Singer airs Saturdays at 7pm on ITV.
