The Apprentice winner Carina Lepore applied for the show after a spooky encounter with Lord Sugar.
Viewers watched the artisan bakery owner being crowned the winner and secure the £250,000 investment.
Lord Sugar's new business partner randomly spotted the Apprentice boss drive past her shop a year before she was 'hired'.
Carina saw the business mogul's famous AMS number plate and jokingly tweeted him asking how many sugars he takes in his tea.
The chance encounter inspired Carina to apply for The Apprentice – and a year later her dreams have come true.
Speaking on today's This Morning, she said: "Last August it was a bit of a quiet day and I was sitting there and I noticed AMS One driving past – his entourage of cars.
"I quickly tweeted, 'Oh Lord Sugar drove past my shop, how many sugars do you take?' trying to make it like a joke.
"And since there there's been something in my mind thinking this means more. It's fate. It's written."
Carina beat Scarlett Allen Horton to Lord Sugar's investment during a thrilling final.
The pair were summoned to London's Sky Garden skyscraper and told they would need to produce a digital screen and a TV advert for their businesses.
On her new business partner, Carina said: "I think we'll have a great working relationship. I'm a grafter. Lord Sugar says he likes a grafter and that's definitely what I am.
"I don't shy away from that. I want to prove I'm hard working.
"I just wanted to win. I didn't get caught up in anything else apart from staying focused and winning that challenge."
Carina won nine out of ten challenges and was the first contestant not to be brought into the boardroom in the bottom three.
She said: "It is incredible for me and my family. That was my driving for thought throughout. I had to keep regrouping myself. Why am I here? Who am I doing this for? I really wanted to win."
