STRICTLY Come Dancing bosses are "unlikely" to take any "drastic action" after Robert Webb and Dianne Buswell's shock exit this evening, and will instead trim this year's final down to three finalists instead of four.
Producers are adapting their plans after comic Robert was forced to quit the show due to "poor health" following a historic major heart operation.
And The Sun can reveal that there will be no major changes to the coming instalments of the show – and they won't be replacing the departing couple.
It's a scenario that bosses are well-versed in dealing with, including last year when boxer Nicola Adams had to leave the competition when her dance partner Katya Jones caught Covid.
And instead of skipping an elimination, or bringing back one of this year's two booted stars, Strictly will simply have fewer finalists in December.
Normally four couples compete in the grand finale for the chance to win the Glitterball trophy, which comedian Bill Bailey took home this year.
But in 2021, there will just be three celebs fighting it out.
The BBC declined to comment further.
Robert admitted earlier this evening that "perhaps" he was "too eager" when he signed up for Strictly Come Dancing two years after undergoing major heart surgery.
The Peep Show comic was unable to walk or lift a kettle just 18 months ago as he recovered from the op, with his initial diagnosis leaving him fearing that he wouldn't see Christmas.
Speaking in a statement earlier today, the actor shared: "Two years ago I had open heart surgery and although I believed I was fit enough to take on Strictly and its demanding schedule, it became clear that I had bitten off way more than I could chew for this stage in my recovery.

"I had begun to feel symptoms that led me to seek an urgent consultation with my heart specialist, and it was her view that it would be better for the sake of my health to step back from the show."
He added that he was "proud" of what he had achieved with Dianne, with the pair going on to praise one another and reflect on how much they enjoyed their time on the show.
Strictly bosses confirmed to The Sun shortly afterwards that another celebrity will be eliminated from the competition this weekend as planned.
