Phillip Schofield has been presenting shows on ITV for decades, with a regular slot on the popular daytime show This Morning. But while rumours have been circling about his co-star’s Holly Willoughby’s future, it seems Phillip could swap broadcasting channels later this year, to take part in Strictly Come Dancing.

Strictly fans will have to wait a few more weeks before they find out which celebrities will be putting on their dancing shoes and taking part in the revised 2020 series.

According to bookmakers Ladbrokes, there is a good chance Phillip has signed up.

Their latest odds suggest his chance of juggling This Morning presenting and Strictly training are at 7/2.

Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: “As the Strictly professionals head to rehearsals the betting is starting to hot up, and Phillip Schofield is the name on punters’ lips that they’d love to see on the dancefloor.”

There have been rumours he will be part of the first same-sex partnership, should the BBC follow Dancing on Ice’s lead.

However, show bosses will have some convincing to do as a spokesperson told “He is not in talks with the BBC.”

As for who he could be competing against, Gemma Collins is rumoured to take part with her odds sitting at 4/5.

Love Island winner and influencer Molly-Mae Hague is also set to appear, alongside cleaning hack fanatic Mrs Hinch at 2/1.

With Love Island taking a break this year, voiceover Iain Stirling could be occupying his time with learning how to Cha Cha as Ladbrokes put him at 3/1 to sign up.

Since leaving the House of Commons, former Speaker John Bercow’s appearance on a reality show has been tipped.

But what are his chances for Strictly? Bookmakers put him at 5/1.

Having recently moved back to the UK from Los Angeles, Cat Deeley has been tipped to sign up.

Her chance is at 6/1 with Jessica added: “Cat Deeley’s everyone’s cup of tea and what better way to announce her return to UK television than with a stint on Strictly.”

It also seems there will be a battle between Coronation Street stars.

In the past 12 months, several actors have left the popular ITV soap behind for new opportunities.

One of those being Katie McGlynn who will have to beat Lucy Fallon for a spot.

Perhaps BBC bosses will opt for Beverley Callard instead who bowed out of her role as Liz McDonald earlier this year.

Either way, this year’s series is going to be similar to the very first few from 2004 onwards.

With a smaller celebrity cast, the show will run for a shorter time.

Strictly Come Dancing is set to return to the BBC later this year.
