LOVE Island star Demi Jones has celebrated being "cancer free" after revealing she has finally beat the "awful disease".
The ITV2 reality star, who has been battling thyroid cancer for over a year, took to Instagram to reveal there was "not a single cancer cell left" in her body.
Demi, 22, who rose to fame on the winter edition of the dating show in 2020, was diagnosed with thyroid cancer just months after her TV appearance.
She revealed to fans in May 2021 that she would need to have surgery to remove her thyroid – as well as the cancer – and would require follow-up treatment.
The star had since been sharing her journey online, opening up about the difficult realities of her treatment, which left her feeling "tired all the time".
Now, Demi has celebrated being "cancer free" at last as she took to Instagram with the joyous update that she was in complete remission.
Posing next to the sign for the NHS Queen Alexandra hospital in Portsmouth, the reality star beamed as she told fans the exciting news.
"I'M CANCER FREE! I did it!" Demi captioned the emotional post. "I got my full body scan results back and there's not a single cancer cell left in my body.
"It’s been such a difficult year mentally and physically for me with my surgeries and treatment but I’m beyond grateful for everyone’s kindness and support over this past year.
"I will continue to be an advocate for cancer awareness and all my love and strength goes out to those who continue to fight this awful disease, here’s to a healthy and happy 2022."

Demi's announcement comes shortly before she is due to appear on ITV's Strictly The Real Full Monty, which will see her strip off in the hopes of raising awareness of cancer.
She will join fellow Love Island star Teddy Soares as well as Christine McGuinness, ex-athlete Colin Jackson and dancer James Jordan on the stage.
All the celebs taking part in the show – which airs tonight at 9pm – have a personal connection to cancer, and are due to share their emotional stories.
As well as prepping for the show, Demi has been busy finding love with a music boss who goes by the name Miami.
A source told us: “Demi has been friends with Miami for a while and he knows the Gale twins as well.
“They’ve really enjoyed spending time with each other recently, but are trying to keep things on the quiet.
“He’s super supportive and giving Demi something else to focus on at the moment.”
Demi spent four weeks in the villa at the start of 2020, enjoying two romances, with builder Nas Majeed and Justin Bieber lookalike Luke Mabbott.
