LOVE Island has hinted a winter series is coming with a very short and cryptic tweet.

The official Twitter account of the hit ITV2 show sent fans into a frenzy with a bombshell message this afternoon.

It released a one worded tweet, writing: "grafting"

The simply text played havoc with fans, and one replied: "admins gone rogue"

Another Love Island mused: "how random"

The latest series of Love Island ended on August 1 with Turkish actress Ekin-Su Culculoglu, 28, and Italian business owner Davide Sanclimenti, 27, crowned as winners.

ITV recently announced there will be two series of the show in 2023 – a winter series in South Africa and a summer series in Majorca.

The show's host Laura Whitmore also announced that she will not return as host, saying in a post on Instagram that there were "certain elements of the show" she had found difficult.

She added they "cannot be changed due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects".

The 37-year-old took over from Caroline Flack before her friend's tragic death and hosted the first winter series of the show.

She added about her departure: "I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into three series.

"I hope I did you proud Caroline."
