Love Island hopeful Lucie Donlan’s mother has put her ex-boyfriend Charlie Frederick on blast for claiming Lucie was fame hungry.
Charlie dated Lucie for several months in 2018 after he appeared on the fourth season of the hit ITV2 show, and when Lucie’s name was unveiled he claimed she is ‘most definitely not looking for love’.
Now however, Lucie’s mother has slammed Charlie and questioned his integrity as she revealed how close he got to their family.
‘Charlie’s interview was completely wrong. He said that it was just a very quick holiday romance, but in actual fact it was a proper relationship for six months,’ she said.
‘Charlie was part of our family. He’d come to see us every weekend and we even went on holiday together. Lucie is not in it for fame at all.
‘I mean, who wouldn’t want to be in the villa and have some fun? She’s wanted to do it for a long time but she’s not fame hungry or anything.’
The pair met when he visited Newquay after his stint on the show, and he asked followers if anyone had a surfboard he could borrow.
But now Lucie’s mother Celly has hit back at his comments, suggesting their romance was more serious than either have let on.
‘I don’t know why Charlie has started being so nasty. He got together with Lucie as soon as he got out of the Love Island villa. The first thing he said to her was “I can’t believe somebody hasn’t snapped you up yet”,’ she told the Daily Mail.
‘But then he moved to London and I think one of his friends told him that he could have had loads of women falling at his feet. He decided he didn’t want to be tied down.’
Celly also alleged Lucie had met Charlie’s family and that Charlie would regularly visit Lucie’s family – where Celly would do his washing – even if she was away on a modelling shoot.
