Lorraine Kelly defended Brooklyn Beckham after the aspiring chef was mercilessly mocked for making a breakfast sandwich on the Today Show in the US.

The eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham was torn apart by viewers after he rustled up some bacon, sausage and egg, plopped it all in between two untoasted slices of bread and squeezed ketchup on top to create a student classic.

Cackling after watching the clip back, Lorraine defended the teen chef, grinning: ‘Aw the wee soul, he looked so embarrassed!’

After Ross King blamed The Today Show for bringing him on the show at all, Lorraine said: ‘You’re right, it’s them making him make a sandwich.’

‘He’s coming in tomorrow to make beans on toast,’ she teased, sarcastically. ‘But it’s like us doing that to him! It’s like us getting him in to fry a burger, the wee soul. What’s he supposed to do? Bonkers.’

Apparently, cooking is something Brooklyn, 22, ‘loves doing’ and really got into it during lockdown.

And the results paid off as after months and months of being trapped inside with nothing else to do than cook, her perfected the bacon sandwich.

‘My great-grandma taught me how to make this so it’s really special to me,’ he told hosts Carson Daly and Hida Kotba.

For those of you who need further guidance, he explained: ‘I first put the sausage, bacon and then the egg. I always like to squish it down a bit.’

While viewers were baffled, host Hoda squealed: ‘Oh my God, Brooklyn, come on. Come on!’

It is worth nothing that Brooklyn didn’t just make a breakfast sandwich, he also made steak quesadillas by frying steak, adding cheese and popping it in a tortilla.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
