Liam Payne and ex Cheryl reveals fears over Bear’s future and make surprise confession

LIAM Payne opened up about why he and Cheryl do not want their son to follow in the footsteps.

Liam, 27, and the Call My Name star, 38, welcomed Bear in 2017 while they were dating.

They split in 2018 after two years of dating, but regularly spend time together as they co-parent the four-year-old.

Liam popped in to the Heart Radio studios to to celebrate Global’s Make Some Noise Day with presenter Mark Wright and made a shocking confession about their son's future.

"Cheryl walked in the other day, and he was in his bedroom, it was about 9 o'clock, and he was supposed to be asleep – he’d set his iPad out on the floor, and you could see the little red line going – and she was like 'what are you doing?' and he was like 'I’m recording a song, can you not see?'

"And he was going [sings] 'like a sunshine'. So funny."

Liam said Bear has the "music buzz" that scared him because he knows "what that can do to you."

"You almost know too much from my side if you know what I mean, but I’d never stop him doing what he wanted to do and he absolutely loves [it].

"He went to rehearsal with her the other week for her show that she put on and he stole the microphone off, he went topless, he had the dancers dancing around. He’s obsessed with The Weeknd and Ariana Grande. "

Mark pointed out having famous popstars for parents, might mean it's likely Bear will follow in their footsteps.

"My dad was quite funny about it actually, cos we were like ‘we really don’t want him to be famous’ and my dad was like ‘well you’re doing a great job then'," Liam revealed.

"Honestly, I don’t think we can stop him with that. I mean, it’s funny cos I sit with him on my production stuff that I do and, I’ll play something, and he’ll go, ‘no no, no no, watch me’.

"And then he’ll just bang out some little tune and he’ll be like, ‘that was by The Weeknd’."

Liam then popped in to Capital Radio to chat with Roman Kemp and revealed more about his toddler.

The pop star told them Bear was “super smart” and “super observant” and recognises the Strictly Come Dancing studio when he sees it on TV because it's the same studio Cheryl uses to rehearse.

He said Bear noticed his voice right away when watching Ron's Gone Wrong, the animated film Liam stars in.

"One of the voices I did, I'm like an assistant at B-bot headquarters, which is like the headquarters that makes all these robots, and I kind of left my voice in just to see if he would twig," Liam explained.

"But I mean, he's super smart. Like, we were watching Strictly Come Dancing, it's the same venue that Cheryl uses to rehearse and he's like 'look Mummy, it’s your work!'.

"Like he's super observant, so I’m having to watch everything."

Liam and girlfriend Maya Henry recently sparked rumours they're engaged again after she rocked a new ring on her left hand at London Fashion Week.

Despite her playful showing of the ring on her index finger, the Texan beauty was notably not wearing the £3 million engagement ring Liam gave her when he popped the question in August 2020.

The Sun exclusively revealed Liam and Maya had quietly rekindled their romance after splitting in June.

Maya moved back to the States following their separation and it looked like they were done for good.

But Liam realised he had made a huge mistake and pulled out all the stops to persuade her to return to the UK.

A source said: “Once Liam and Maya ended things they both had a lot of time to think.

“And ultimately, as the days went by, Liam realised what he had lost.

“He has worked hard to win back Maya’s trust and they have been dating again for some time.

“Liam is a really charming and romantic man and he has turned his charisma up to full volume to get her back.

“As well as having sweet dates together out of the public eye, they’ve been spending time with mutual friends.

“It’s all very much back to basics and they are falling in love all over again."
