Kidnapper Colin's deadly fate 'confirmed' as Jai takes action in Emmerdale

Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) is taken hostage in upcoming Emmerdale episodes, as Colin Hamston (Mark Noble) blames her for everything that’s gone wrong in his life and locks her in a bedroom.

Laurel first clashed with Colin when he objected to a gay-themed assembly that her son Arthur (Alfie Clarke) was due to participate in.

A friendship then developed between Arthur and a boy called Marshall. Arthur was attracted to Marshall, but the other boy seemed at first to be a bit of a bully and had some homophobic views. It wasn’t long before it became clear that Marshall was Colin’s son, and because he was gay he was suffering awful abuse from his bigoted father and was trying desperately to deny his own sexuality.

After Marshall bravely came out and stood up to his father, Laurel and Jai (Chris Bisson) offered him a place in their home and romance soon blossomed between him and Arthur. Recently, though, Marshall took the decision to leave the village to live with his aunt, leaving Arthur heartbroken.

It soon became clear that Colin blamed Laurel and Jai for the breakdown in his relationship with his son, accusing them of ‘encouraging’ him to be gay. He refused to acknowledge that it was his own despicable behaviour that had led to Marshall wanting nothing to do with him.

The passage of a few weeks hasn’t changed Colin’s opinion at all, and when Laurel goes round to pick up Marshall’s passport which has been left behind, she soon realises that Colin’s opinion hasn’t shifted at all – he still blames her for everything that happened. As his behaviour becomes more and more frightening, he finally locks Laurel into Marshall’s bedroom without her phone.

Back in the village, Jai, Suni (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana) and Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) realise they haven’t heard from Laurel in a long time and when they hear from Arthur that she was heading for Colin’s their anxiety grows.

Soon a message arrives on Jai’s phone, apparently from Laurel, and it implies that she’s drinking again. Because he suspects Colin is behind this, Jai refuses to take the message at face value.

The police are alerted and arrive at Colin’s, but he manages to fob them off.

Their worries mounting, Jai and Suni decide they have no option but to take matters into their own hands and they head off to try to find Laurel.

Will they get to her in time?
