Kate Garraway fears Good Morning Britain sack as she oversleeps and misses show

The 52-year-old was due to appear on this morning’s instalment but managed to sleep through her call time, forcing Ranvir Singh to step in for her.

We’ve all been there…

And Kate has been left terrified the mistake would leave her in serious trouble with ITV bosses.

Appearing on the show via a videocall – and looking seriously distressed – she told Ben Shephard and Ranvir: ‘Listen, I’m going to get fired!

‘I can’t believe I’ve done this!’

Kate Garraway feared for her Good Morning Britain job after missing her first appearance on the show after her I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here stint.

Showing off that she had her hair blow-dried and her makeup on from the previous night, she explained that she had been prepping for the appearance for hours, before nodding off.

‘I fell asleep and the next thing I know it’s like 20 minutes ago,’ she fumed. ‘I’ve never done this before in 20 years.

‘This is my first show back, I don’t know what I’m going to do!

‘I can’t believe I slept from 6pm all the way until now. I’ve got six alarm clocks and didn’t set any of them.

‘Oh God, I’m so sorry, please don’t fire me!’

Thankfully, ITV producers sent a message through to Ranvir to let Kate know her job is definitely safe.

Taking to Instagram, Kate later shared a public apology for her no-show – still managing to look miles better than those of us who hadn’t overslept…

‘Oh no – disaster – overslept on my 1st morning back at work on @gmb,’ she began.

‘Fell asleep last night fully made up with clothes on and contacts in – didn’t set alarm . Woke up looking like this!!!??!!! Can’t believe it – am going to get fired first morning back!

‘And to think @adeleroberts & @romankemp we were talking about this in the jungle and I was proudly saying I had never overslept enough in 20 years to actually miss a show!!!! That’s karma!!!!’

Well, she’s probably still a little jetlagged from the Australian jungle…

Kate finished fourth on I’m A Celebrity this year, leaving Jacqueline Jossa, Andy Whyment and Roman Kemp battling it out for the crown.

The EastEnders actress eventually came out on top, beating her soap rival by a tiny 1.2%.

Good Morning Britain continues on weekdays, at 6am, on ITV.
