James Nesbitt does NOT look happy as he's spotted on set of Netflix's The Stranger follow-up Stay Close

JAMES Nesbitt did NOT look happy as he was spotted on tje set of Netflix's The Stranger follow-up Stay Close.

James, 56, plays a detective called Broome who is unable to let go of a cold case involving a missing person.

Filming is taking place in Manchester and during one scene, James looked intense and serious as his character spoke on a mobile phone.

While the detective looked unhappy with whatever he was hearing on the phone, the same could not be said for a bunch of young female extras, who were dressed up in colourful partywear to film scenes in a club.

The drama is based on author Harlan Coben's novel of the same name and follows the hit Netflix adaptation of one of his other books, The Stranger.

Richard Armitage, who starred in The Stranger, has also landed a role in Stay Close as Ray, a once promising documentary photographer, now stuck in a dead-end job pandering to celebrity-obsessed rich kids.

The men are joined by actress Cush Jumbo who will play Megan, a working mother-of-three whose life becomes entwined with Broome's.

Rounding out the cast is Bancroft leading lady, Sarah Parish.

Harlan previously shared his excitement for the series, saying: “Talk about a dream-come-true cast.

"Cush Jumbo, and incendiary and awesome talent Jimmy Nesbitt.”

Stay Close is an eight-part series and the writers and producers of The Stranger will also return to work on the thriller.

The Stranger premiered on Netflix in January last year and also starred Siobhan Finneran, Hannah John-Kamen and Jennifer Saunders.

The Stranger is available on Netflix. A release date for Stay Close is yet to be confirmed.
