Vikings: Valhalla is the upcoming Vikings spin-off series that’s set to launch onto Netflix next year. The historical drama will be set in the 11th century, over 100 years after the events of Vikings. One star of the series, Stephen Hogan, has opened up about his role in the show during an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk.

Stephen confirmed he’s already concluded filming for the upcoming Netflix series Viking Valhalla.

The Irish actor explained he recently finished recording some ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement) for the drama.

He said: “I just did my ADR. ADR is what you do, your little dubbing when there are minor pickups.”

However, Stephen confessed the recording surrounded a big spoiler plot point for his character.

The actor revealed: “They wanted to do that bit more on the, dare I say it, my death.

“You can’t do Vikings and not die!” Stephen exclaimed.

He went on to reveal more about his character and the story the upcoming series will tell.

Stephen said: “I’m playing an English Lord in that and it picks up 100 years from the end of Vikings.

“They’re just settling in to take over England. So, the Anglo Saxons are there and it’s fascinating,” the actor added.

He hinted the series will be action-packed and drew a comparison to another hit drama.

Stephen remarked: “It’s basically like Goodfellas, you know, it’s Viking gangsters.

“So, it’s pretty brutal and the old order is slowly being shoved aside,” he explained.

Fans of Vikings are excitedly awaiting the spin-off series and Netflix have already treated them to a first look trailer.

It’s currently unknown exactly when the series will be available on the streaming service, but it’s expected to be released at some point in 2022.

While they patiently wait for Vikings: Valhalla, fans of Stephen can see him in his new film Sardar Udham.

The Indian biographical film follows the life of revolutionary freedom fighter Sardar Udham Singh (played by Vicky Kaushal), who is best known for assassinating Michael O’Dwyer in London to take revenge for the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar.

In the film, Stephen plays Detective Inspector Swain, who investigates Michael O’Dwyer’s death.

Chatting about the movie, Stephen said: “I think it’s a fascinating film with very, very high production values. People have responded to it very viscerally.”

Vikings: Valhalla is set to launch on Netflix in 2022 and Sardar Udham is available on Amazon Prime now.
