EastEnders pulled from BBC One tonight and tomorrow

EastEnders will not air a new episode tonight (Tuesday, February 28) or tomorrow (Wednesday, March 1).

The BBC One soap, which is normally a permanent fixture in the TV schedules on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, has been pulled in favour of football.

This is the second time this month that the popular serial drama has been taken off the air due to sports.

Coverage of the FA Cup will kick off on the broadcaster from 7:30pm on Tuesday, as Fulham takes on Leeds United in the fifth-round.

If, like us, you’ve found EastEnders to be absolutely must-see TV over the past year then you’ll likely be devastated by this news.

If that wasn’t heartbreaking enough, there will also be no EastEnders on Wednesday either.

Sheffield United will take on Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday evening, again in the fifth-round of the FA Cup.

You may, however, have noticed that there were two episodes of EastEnders last night, which was a deliberate move on BBC’s part to ensure soap fans didn’t miss out due to the football.

The show will return to screens on Thursday (March 2), with the episode in question picking up from where yesterday’s left off, dealing with the heartbreaking aftermath of Whitney Dean’s discovery that her baby has Edwards’ Syndrome.

Nish Panesar, meanwhile, invites Eve Unwin and the Slaters to the marriage blessing ceremony, leaving Eve unsure what to do.

At Walford East, Suki overhears Nish and Ravi Gulati talking about Mitch, and the pair erupt into a furious row.

If you can’t wait that long, then you’ll be pleased to know that you can stream the episode from 6am on Thursday on BBC iPlayer.

In the meantime, you can get your soap fix this evening with new episodes of Hollyoaks and Emmerdale.

EastEnders continues Thursday March 2 at 7:30pm on BBC One.
