EastEnders character makes dramatic exit after final showdown

Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit) officially waved goodbye to Walford as she left EastEnders for good in tonight’s (March 30) episode.

After learning that daughter Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) only had six months left to live, Emma was shaken.

Unable to cope, she turned down a pamper night in order to distance herself from her dying daughter.

In a heart to heart with Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalfe), Emma revealed that Lola had asked the family to be strong for her, but she didn’t think she could even do that.

As Emma revealed that she felt like an outsider, Sam explained that all she needed to do was be there for Lola.

However, it seemed that Sam’s advice had the opposite effect on Emma, who later paid Lola a visit.

In a shocking scene, she revealed that her boss had decided to relocate to the US, and Emma planned on going with her.

Devastated Lola couldn’t believe what she was hearing, and pointed out that it all seemed a little bit too good to be true.

She told her estranged mum that she didn’t know why she was surprised, as walking out on her was just what she had always done.

Lashing out, she proudly pointed out that she had a supportive network of family, friends, and a husband who loved her, before asking Emma what exactly she had going for her.

When Emma said that she would see her again, Lola said no, they were done.

Heartbroken, Emma left Lola’s flat for the final time.

Will Lola change her mind about having contact with her mum in future, or has that bridge been well and truly burnt?
