Eamonn Holmes is on crutches as his chronic pain battle continues.

The ITV star, 61, sparked concern last month when he revealed he was in hospital and seeking treatment over health issues.

During a special appearance on Loose Women alongside wife Ruth Langsford, Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash, he opened up about his health issues, explaining that he suffered ‘three slipped discs’.

Speaking to his co-stars, he said: ‘I actually have to come on here with a crutch, that’s the way I am at the moment.

‘I’ve got steroid injections and everything’s okay, and hopefully I’ll be on the mend.

‘Chronic pain, no matter what causes it – it doesn’t discriminate between whether you’re young or old, man or woman or whatever.

‘I couldn’t sleep at night, I just couldn’t sleep. Lying there at night, trying to get to sleep while Ruth was sound asleep beside me. Honestly it was awful.’

Discussing his recovery, Eamonn continued: ‘I’m six weeks down the road with that and I’ve got the injections which have taken away the acute pain.

‘I can sleep and that’s a blessing, absolutely great. But the physicality of not being able to talk straight…

‘I’m going to embark on a whole rehabilitation programme, I’ll get fit, I’ll get strong. It will take a while.’

Loose Women continues on weekdays, at 12.30, on ITV.
